Architect and urban planner Clarissa Debiazi Zomer is invited to the exhibition to talk about architecture, aesthetics and electricity generation

A renewable and sustainable energy source, sunlight has unlimited potential for use, especially in buildings. In addition to the already known modules installed on roofs, the challenge is to integrate this technology into architecture, without neglecting aesthetics. This is the challenge that architect and urban planner Clarissa Debiazi Zomer presents in the lecture Architecture generating electrical energy, scheduled for August 2nd at Refúgio da Artista, one of the 24 environments of the CASACOR Santa Catarina | Balneário Camboriú 2019 exhibition. The specialist's proposal is to discuss photovoltaic technology and its possibilities for integration into architecture, with examples in which good compromises between form and function, aesthetics and performance, were achieved. "Solar energy can be incorporated into the design phase of a project and become part of the architecture itself. It is possible to add beauty, sustainability and energy efficiency without compromising the performance of the technology," she says. Clarissa is a member of the Photovoltaic Research Group at UFSC (Federal University of Santa Catarina), holds a PhD in Civil Engineering (Photovoltaic solar energy integrated into buildings) and is doing a sandwich doctorate in Singapore (Solar Energy Research Institute of Singapore/National University of Singapore) . According to her, today there are technologies and different colors of solar energy capture modules that allow a wide number of options for designers. "This is a field that still needs to be explored. In general, the installation of power generation modules comes after the house has been designed. But this technology can be better used if it is conceived in the project. It is even cheaper," he emphasizes. Car power at CASACOR Santa Catarina At the CASACOR Santa Catarina | Balneário Camboriú exhibition, it is possible to see an example of a carport (carport for parking lots), which can be used to charge electric car batteries. The project is the result of a partnership between ENGIE, a leader in electric power generation in Brazil and in solutions, and Sunew, a global leader in the production of Organic Photovoltaic Film (OPV). The clean energy generation process will be demonstrated with a Smart electric car, on display in one of the areas of Casa do Lago. "The interesting thing about projects like this is that the energy needed to power a vehicle is exactly the coverage area of a garage," concludes Clarissa.
