CASACOR RS promotes concert for the preservation of the Pia Chaves Barcellos building

The 30th edition of CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul will have another celebratory moment: the exhibition, which is being held in the historic building Pia Chaves Barcellos (Rua Dona Leonor, 360), will promote on September 21st, Wednesday, the ceremony to hand over the heritage listing of the building built in 1923 . To mark the date, CASACOR RS will hold a major concert with the RS Youth Orchestra and the participation of a member of CASACOR 's professional cast, soprano Paula Schwartz, inside the neo-Gothic style church located in the heart of the building, at 7:30 pm. The general public will be able to attend the show by purchasing special and limited tickets for the price of R$110. The tickets , already available at the CASACOR RS digital box office , give the right to visit the 40 rooms on display and access to the chapel. All proceeds acquired The proceeds from the sale of tickets for the concert will go to the Orquestra Jovem do RS , a project created in 2009 with a focus on excellent musical training, and aimed at serving children and adolescents from low-income families and members of the school network, from 10 to 24 years old.

Located on a plot of land in the Rio Branco neighborhood, the Pia Chaves Barcellos building aimed to welcome and educate orphaned and needy girls, and remained in operation through the Franciscan Sisters Association until 2005. Conceived by Ilza Chaves Barcellos and her brothers-in-law , the property is a true monument in honor of her husband Pedro Chaves Barcellos, who conceived the project but died before its construction. The couple, known in Porto Alegre society for their benevolence, had no children and dedicated themselves tirelessly to assistance to underprivileged children, supporting and sustaining the actions of congregations focused on education. After CASACOR RS, the building will be transformed into the new headquarters of the Pampeano School, following its educational tradition and the desire of its creators. CASACOR RS is on display in Porto Alegre until October 2nd, showcasing, in 40 environments, the main trends in architecture, design and landscaping presented by 70 specialized professionals.
