Times have changed. And all attention turned to our homes which, more than ever, became our universe and refuge. The pandemic has awakened many needs, accelerating movements that promise to bring about changes even in upcoming real estate launches. And, as expected,
CASACOR Rio brings many of these
living trends in an exhibition
unlike anything you've ever seen . Hybrid, it has an in-person version,
focusing on the experience of visiting the house : an
iconic mansion in the Botanical Garden surrounded by 12 thousand m² of Atlantic Forest. And a
digital version that favors new formats, further expanding its audience, who, even from a distance, can explore every corner of the
38 environments – including spaces, patios and gardens – in a digital guide with interactive videos and 3D tours.
Following the health protocols of the World Health Organization (WHO),
in-person visits must be pre-scheduled as there is a limit of people per environment. The architecture of the main house, in fact, is a great ally as the
large windows and doors present in all rooms allow for cross ventilation that leaves all 23 internal spaces of the 2,500 square meter residence airy. While in the gardens, another 15 leisure spaces
invite the public to stroll through the extensive green area . Participating in this edition are
57 architecture, landscaping and interior design professionals who had the mission of making modern interferences in the property's eclectic architecture.
Flexible and multifunctional spaces
(Patricia Quentel/CASACOR)
In recent months, everyone has seen the functions of their spaces multiply. The living room or bedroom sometimes functions as
a home office , sometimes as a home fitness, sometimes as a study or entertainment corner. And there is no shortage of examples of
environments with multiple functions in this CASACOR Rio: the
Intimate Guest Room (Tatiana Lopes and Tatiana Mendes) is also a living room, home office and home fitness.
Home Office & Games (Caco Borges and Carolina Haubrich) houses technological resources for work and entertainment.
Refúgio (Adriana Esteves) has a bar, kitchen, living room. In the
Living Room (Gisele Taranto) everything can change, from the works of art to the composition of the environment. While at
Casa UP (Michelle Wilkinson, Thiago Morsh and Cadé Marino) functions mix and give new names to the spaces: receiving and relaxing (living room); love and rest (bedroom); share and save memories (integrated kitchen); purify and renew (bathroom).
The appreciation of nature
(Patricia Quentel/CASACOR)
In times of so much social isolation, greenery, even within apartments, has become even more essential. Here, it even appears in the bathrooms! Case of the
Bathroom (Beto Figueiredo and Luiz Eduardo Almeida) which gained a jabuticabeira tree in the center of the space. And also the
Haman SPA (Bianca da Hora) with its internal garden. In the spacious external gardens,
the invitation is to stroll, wander and enjoy a picnic in its 12 thousand m2 of Atlantic Forest gardens! Unmissable: the
Secret Garden (Diego Raposo and Manuela Simas), which invites the public to stay in a bubble amidst the greenery; and
No Balanço das Águas (Bel Lobo and Mariana Travassos) which allows the public to rock music that activates lights and the sound of water in streams. Balconies, outdoor rooms,
urban jungle ... this edition has no shortage of environments to contemplate, relax and meditate!
Modern interferences
In the wave of property occupation in historic centers, there is nothing more current than
valuing the original details of ancient architecture . Moldings, portals, stained glass, tile panels, decorated ceilings. There are many details that have been revitalized and incorporated into the projects of architects and interior designers. They are present in practically every room. But it's worth taking a closer look at the
Library (Andrea Chicharo),
Guest Suite (Ângela Leite Barbosa and Daniel Marques Mendes),
Friends' Kitchen (Anna Malta and Andrea Duarte),
Toilet and Gallery (Estúdio Manu+Ca)
, Small Living Room Studies (Lia, Felipe and Betina Siqueira),
Couple's Bedroom (Paola Ribeiro),
Julia's Bedroom (Paula Neder) and
Entrance Hall (Rodrigo Jorge Studio).
All together and mixed
(Patricia Quentel/CASACOR)
Take advantage of the tour to observe
pieces from completely different periods and styles , together and mixed, creating an interesting mix of decoration such as the
Casa Bistrô (Maurício Nóbrega),
Lunch Room and Balcony (Chicô Gouvêa) and
Piano Room (Luiz Fernando Grabowsky) ).
Rio way of living
And, of course, the Rio exhibition will reveal that sophisticated and casual way that only Rio residents have. It can be seen in
Quarto de Casal (Paola Ribeiro); in the Scandinavian style with Rio flavor from
Casa UP (Michelle Wilkinson, Thiago Morsh and Cadé Marino); in the urban, relaxed and cozy style of
Chá Bar ( Roberta Nicolau); and in the charm that the mix of old and contemporary brings to
Cooking 2 Go (Tiago Freire).

History of Palacete Brando Barbosa: headquarters of CASACOR Rio 30 years
Neighboring the Botanical Garden, the property was built in 1860 as part of the old Chácara da Floresta by the Faro family, important coffee growers. Years later, it was the residence of the important public health doctor Oswaldo Cruz. However, its glory days were only experienced from the 1960s onwards, when
Jorge Brando Barbosa and his wife Odaléa purchased, renovated and expanded the original property using furniture, arches, portals, paintings and sculptures found in antique shops, convents, farm and churches in the interior of Brazil.
Donated in 2015, while still alive, by Odaléa Brando Barbosa to the São Paulo Museum of Sacred Art, the mansion now houses, after
CASACOR Rio , the Brando Barbosa Institute (IBB), a meeting place for those interested in art, culture and education.
