CASACOR Piauí 2025 honors Tereza Melo in the second edition of the show
In the second edition of CASACOR Piauí, which starts on May 15, 2025 in the capital, Tereza Melo, founder of Trapos e Fiapos, will be the honoree in recognition of her dedication to envisioning a world connected to the ancestral and respect for nature. The theme for this edition of the exhibition is "Sowing Dreams", which represents a responsibility to connect architectural projects, interior design, and landscaping through bioarchitecture and harmony with the environment. In tribute to Tereza, architect Eduardo Avelino, who is participating in the exhibition for the second time, will sign the project "Varanda Veredas".

In this sense, the exhibition entered into synergy with Trapos e Fiapos, created by Tereza Melo, a public health physician who sought to improve the quality of life for residents of Santa Rita (rural area of Teresina-PI). With the weaving of numerous handmade products, such as timeless rugs and bags, it became a form of rebirth for the residents of the region. Regarding CASACOR Piauí, Tereza states that the exhibition "does not only focus on the interior of the dwelling, but on the residents, the surroundings, the community and the world". As for the invitation to be the honoree, she highlights that this "circle makes me peek at what I carry in my matulão: what I dream, what I think, in what and in whom I believe; what I do, how I do, what traces I leave".

Trapos e Fiapos was present in the projects of the exhibition in 2024 with rugs and other accessories as decoration pieces and even with a seed planting action in the space "Agrofloresta DECA", which was signed by João Almeida and Gustavo Almeida. Neuma Figueirêdo, Director of CASACOR Piauí and Ceará, points out that in choosing honorees, "we take into account the impact that the work developed by the person has on the lives of others. We always seek, whenever possible, a relationship with our area of activity, which is architecture, design, crafts, visual arts, or the industry of our sector. It is always a respected name with public recognition. Tereza fits perfectly into this profile, as she is a national reference in design and crafts. She projects Piauí to the world with a product of unique quality and identity”, she emphasizes.

The project "Varanda Veredas" reflects the work and life of Tereza Melo

For architect Eduardo Avelino, who joins the CASACOR Piauí team once again, it is both an admiration and a responsibility to create the project "Varanda Veredas" in honor of Tereza Melo. "The intention of capturing Tereza's essence and conveying how much she impacts me is challenging. However, this process of creating something for such a special person has a unique and exciting energy. I believe it is a way to express my gratitude and respect not only for her art but for the person Tereza. Always caring and bringing light to everyone around her,” he expresses.

Regarding what the public can expect, Eduardo shares that his project "is a reflection of Tereza's work and life, something simple, yet sophisticated. This connection between her craftsmanship and my modern architecture will be easily felt, as manual art and contemporary design will complement each other and create a unique experience for visitors, bringing warmth, texture, and a sense of identity to the project,” he asserts.

The honoree's project connects to the theme of the edition

When evaluating her work from the perspective of the CASACOR theme for 2025, "we see that 'Sowing Dreams' is what Tereza literally does. From her relationship with the community and professionals who work with her to the source of the raw material she uses in her products," Neuma reiterates. The Director adds that the expectation is increasingly to "project this significant work of Trapos e Fiapos to a diverse audience, which is the CASACOR audience. Professionals in the fields of architecture, decoration, and design, but also students, influencers, and consumers,” she points out.

For this edition, Tereza Melo shares her vision of a "CASACOR Piauí 2025 fueled by good and fruitful dreams, considering that we can only realize what is within. CASACOR Piauí has plenty of fertilizer for the seed of dreams," she concludes.
