When she agreed to participate in CASA COR Minas Gerais 2016 , interior designer Valéria Junqueira invited her daughter, a ballerina, Gabriela Junqueira, to work together on a project that would be special to both of them. Based on this, mother and daughter decided to create a space that would bring their two professions together. To achieve this, they also invited Gabriela's husband, Pedro Pederneiras, an engineer and technical director of Grupo Corpo, which Gabriela is a member of. In addition to him, Filipe Pederneiras, her son, and his look-alike Thiago Bandeira de Mello, formed the partnership for the space.
All this great union will result in a multipurpose and industrial space, focused on artistic presentations such as concerts, theater shows, dance, circus, chats, lectures, launches, and various events at CASA COR Minas .
“I read that this year the event would have a built-up area and that the cultural program would be intense. I immediately thought: why don’t we present the proposal to build a multipurpose space, capable of hosting all artistic manifestations and still allowing for various forms of use?”, commented Gabriela.
“Designed to be made with an almost industrial structural logic, with mechanical industrial tubes, the first thing we thought was that we wanted to create an empty space, as versatile as possible, and that, at the same time, would draw attention from the outside, because its proportions are completely different from other spaces that are usually found at CASA COR ”, explains Filipe.
Still thinking about this scenic universe, there will also be a dressing room, an area that will be located in a volume behind the theater. “Since it will be an integral part of the show, we thought of creating a kind of dream dressing room, with ideal comfort for the artist”, explains Valéria. It will have access from both inside and outside the theater. A panel will separate it from the inside. The dressing room will also have an exclusive costume, created especially for the occasion by Gabriela.
The stage lighting will be provided by Tekhnê, which specializes in theater lighting. “Small boxes with dimmers will be used. Instead of having to run power cables to the desired locations, I can place the box directly on the grid and only run the signal cable. In other words, there will be a huge saving on cables, making operation easier. It’s much simpler,” says Pedro. The versatility of the auditorium will also be enormous. Made with practical, 1x2 m metal platforms, it has adjustable height that can be raised 20 cm at a time, up to 1 m. With capacity to accommodate around 60 seated people, there will also be space for chairs, depending on the configuration of the space. The Minas Gerais exhibition is scheduled to take place from August 30 to October 4, 2016, at Alameda das Latâneas, 30, corner of Av. Otacílio Negrão de Lima - Pampulha.
