Carico was and is one of the most important names in Minas Gerais architecture. Born and raised in Minas Gerais, the professional grew up amidst the construction of Belo Horizonte, being involved in all the local architecture since he was a child. This already awakened in him the desire and fascination by the buildings and their lines.

In 1982, Carlos Alexandre Dumont (his baptismal name) graduated in Architecture from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Soon after graduating, Carico completed his first project: a store in the city. The professional's achievement was so representative that it was not It took a while for his name to circulate around the metropolis, and he was soon at the top of BH's projects.
Since then, Carico has completed more than two thousand commercial and business projects, among hundreds of other residential projects. The professional participated in
CASACOR Minas Gerais for the first time in 1995, accounting for 12 editions of the show.

In 2018, the Minas Gerais exhibition decided to pay tribute to him with a space that fully reproduced the office where the professional worked for 40 years. The space was designed by his daughter Júlia Dumont and Tina Barbosa. The duo reissued furniture designed by him and brought pieces of other participations of the architect in
CASACOR Minas Gerais .
Retrospectiva Arquiteto Carico - Júlia Gontijo Dumont e Tina Barbosa. Em homenagem aos 40 anos de vida profissional de Carlos Alexandre Dumont, mais conhecido como Carico, o espaço recria o escritório do profissional. A dupla reeditou mobiliários assinados por ele e trouxe peças de outras participações do arquiteto em CASACOR Minas. O piso em mármore branco contrasta com painéis em folha de ouro e com um capacho de seis metros de comprimento com desenho do arquiteto. (Jomar Bragança)
