In 2018, CASACOR Minas Gerais will be celebrating its 24th edition! In addition to being a reference in architecture, decoration, design and landscaping, the show also aims to be a model in sustainability. To this end, the Minas Gerais event announced that this year, plastic straws will not be used in functional environments! Visitors to the bars, restaurants and cafés at the exhibition will be able to use Mentah's "eco-friendly" straws, made from borosilicate glass, the same type used in laboratories. The product is 23 cm long and has a total diameter of 12 mm, which means it has an opening twice as large as that of plastic straws. Plastic straws are considered one of the biggest pollutants of the environment, as they take up to a thousand years to completely decompose. The lifespan of plastic straws is also very short, lasting around 10 minutes on average, considering that most people use them with every drink. Glass straws, on the other hand, are considered the most hygienic on the market, as they do not release paint residue, due to their manufacture with vitrified enamel. The utensil is inert and heat-resistant. Mentah, which produces the straw, is a movement that originated in Rio de Janeiro and values sustainable living, contributing to the reduction of plastic waste in everyday life. Because it is transparent and wider than normal, the straw is washable and sterilizable at high temperatures. Visitors to CASACOR Minas Gerais will be able to purchase the utensil, which comes with a sanitizing brush and protective fabric cover, starting on August 7th! CASACOR SERVICE Minas Gerais 2018 WHEN?
