The unprecedented partnership between the Recife Center Office and
CASACOR Pernambuco to activate the Chanteclair building has yielded another product: the
Recentro Bistro , a pleasant space to gather with friends and family for a healthy meal, with delicious desserts and coffee. The bistro was inspired by Recife's roots, referencing history and rescuing the memory of the heart of the city.
Its name is an allusion to the Recife City Hall's
Recentro Program , a plan for the maintenance and revitalization of the city center that includes the neighborhoods of Recife, Santo Antônio and São José. The program brings together actions by municipal departments and agencies, coordinated by the Office of the Mayor of Recife. from the Center of Recife, led by Ana Paula Vilaça. According to her, Recentro works as a bridge that facilitates dialogue, listening and the meeting of institutions, public management, companies and people with the
common goal of making the center a better place , alive, safe and dynamic for everyone . “Bistrô Recentro is a
rescue of the affective memory of the people of Recife and brings together good and healthy food, art – with images of Recife’s churches and tiles that remind us of the homes of grandparents from countless generations – and good taste with an intimate and comfortable atmosphere. of the space. Another difference is that the place has
signature dishes from chefs from restaurants in the downtown area (neighborhoods of Recife, Santo Antônio and São José), a way of honoring businesses that work with culture through traditional Recife cuisine”, details Ana Paula.
The project for the space was carried out by architect
Dani Pessoa , who preserved the space's tiled floor, the existing ceiling height, and left its frames exposed, composing the decoration and
highlighting the building's original architectural features . The entire project was inspired by the understanding and appreciation of the historical and cultural richness of the Chanteclair building. In the entrance hallway, paintings with images of the central region of Recife, works of art and figures from Recife's culture make up the ambiance.
Images of the beautiful churches located in the Center are projected on the ceiling, including the Church of Madre de Deus, the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Church of Saint Teresa of the Third Order of Carmel, the Church of Santo Antônio, and the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary. of the Blacks, Basilica of Our Lady of Penha, Church of Our Lady of the Conception of the Military, Golden Chapel, Synagogue.
The chef
Manu Tenório is in charge of operating the space, with her proposal for
healthy cuisine . Chefs who work in restaurants in the neighborhoods of the Recentro area (neighborhoods of Recife, Santo Antônio and São José) are also being invited to, together with Manu, develop
dishes alluding to the attractions of the city center . Manu created a special dish: Chanteclair Steak. Placemats were made with illustrations featuring a quiz with questions about the historic center, providing a fun moment for visitors. The space serves coffee, cheese bread, salads, sandwiches, pasta dishes and risottos accompanied by shrimp, fish or meat. The prices of the items vary from R$8.50 to R$84.00.
