On the day of
March 31,
Prada opened the doors to its
first independent restaurant in Asia, conceived with the renowned director
Wong Kar-Wai from Hong Kong. Named
Mi Shang, the restaurant occupies the second floor of
Rong Zhai, a historic mansion restored in 1918 that preserves the architectural characteristics of ancient China and currently serves as an art venue in
Xangai. The Prada Group inaugurated the building in 2017 as a center for
cultural activities.
The design of the establishment was inspired by films from the Chinese director such as "In the Mood for Love" and "Happy Together". Thus, the space combines the sophistication of Italian tradition with the historical and cultural atmosphere of Rong Zhai. Each element was designed to relate the cinematic aesthetics of the filmmaker to a gastronomic proposal, celebrating the meeting of two different, yet complementary, universes. Among the services offered by the restaurant, highlights include coffee throughout the day and fine dining. To contemplate a fusion of Chinese and Italian cuisines, the menu encompasses breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and cocktails at night. Visitors can taste dishes such as handmade Italian pasta, along with Asian seafood and fresh and exotic ingredients from the region.
