opened in 1939 and has spent the last few months closed for renovations. Now, the space has returned, renewed
– but still keeps the traditional recipe, served hot and accompanied by a good coffee brewed on the spot.
2. Comercial Sabiá
Comercial Sabiá is another
classic in Belo Horizonte when it comes to cheese bread. Opened in 1991, the place is famous for its delicacy
stuffed with pork and Canastra cheese. It has shops in the Central Market and Savassi
– but be aware: they only accept cash!
3. Pão de Queijaria
One of the most popular spots in Belo Horizonte thanks to its creative menu
– which elevates cheese bread to main dish status. Options include everything from cheese bread waffles and sandwiches to ice cream of this flavor! Those who prefer the traditional version can choose from cheeses from various regions of Minas, such as Serra da Canastra and Serra da Mantiqueira. Pão de Queijaria has four locations spread throughout the city.
4. Café Dois Irmãos
Another classic in the Central Market: Café Dois Irmãos delights tourists and locals alike with delicious cheese breads and cheese biscuits
since 1985. To accompany, it's worth asking for the
traditional cornmeal broa and a hot coffee.
5. Braga Pão de Queijo
Located inside the
Mineirão, Braga makes cheese bread with ingredients personally selected by the recipe's owner. Among them is the artisanal Canastra cheese, produced in the regions of the São Francisco river springs. One of the most popular versions is served with
Viçosa dulce de leche, but there are also several other filling options
– including some quite unusual!
6. Pão de Queijo Canastra
With
40% Canastra cheese in the recipe, this place values good ingredients and affectionate preparation. There are more than 10 filling flavors to choose from, plus a
selection of frozen products to make at home.
7. Roça Capital
Roça Capital is a mineiro warehouse located in the heart of Belo Horizonte: the Central Market. The space proposes
to balance the simplicity of the countryside with the sophistication of the capital. Thus, it offers various cheese and cake options
– as well as the traditional stuffed cheese breads, of course.
