The new book by
Lidewij Edelkoort – one of the world's most famous trend forecasters – is a dive into the universe of Dutch designer
Wilbert Das and American educator
Bob Shevline . The author uses images, phrases, colors and textures to tell the story of
Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa , designed by the duo. The 288 pages of "
Uxua Utopia - A Very Gifted Guesthouse" were published by Lecturis. “
This is not a coffee table book and it is not a travel book . It feels more like an object than a book. The publication was conceived as a
testament to tomorrow , to what an ideal society could look like that would live in harmony with nature. The holistic quality of the project reinforces our esteem and invites us to delve deeper into its essential pillars of hospitality and humanity, care and well-being, education and aesthetics, design and crafts and empowerment, gardening and parties, textiles and art, as well as food and drink,” reveals the author.
Born from the vision of two design-driven individuals, Dutch designer Wilbert Das and American educator Bob Shevlin, the UXUA hotel
soothes and awakens the senses in equal measure, in a
unique experience for the soul . Here, each guest is pampered and their needs and demands are anticipated. The food is delicious and handcrafted objects are found in each room, as well as in all the common areas. In this hotel, everything is designed and crafted by Wilbert Das, which makes the experience even more unique.
Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa, in Trancoso, on the southern coast of Bahia, was elected for the fourth consecutive time the
Best Resort in South America , according to the Readers' Choice Awards 2022
ranking .
The sophisticated hotel in Quadrado, in the heart of the town,
is also ranked third among the best resorts worldwide , behind only the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, in the United Arab Emirates, and the leader Adare Manor, in County Limerick, Ireland.
The Brazilian hotel is made up of
13 exclusive rustic houses, with options including cabins, tree houses and spas . The publication highlights the hotel's spacious areas, tropical gardens and the fact that it fits “perfectly into the post-hippie utopia of Trancoso”.
