Luciana Brito Galeria presents “ Polyphony Campana ”, the first exhibition by brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana of Estúdio Campana . Dispelling barriers between artistic expressions, the partnership reinforces the gallery’s goal of increasingly embracing multidisciplinarity in its work. “Polifonia Campana” brings to the public not only the versatility of the Campana brothers’ work, but also the representation of a continuous and consistent trajectory, built by the artists in almost 40 years of work and rooted in the truth of the materials . In total, around 50 works, most of which are new, occupy all the spaces in the gallery , in order to establish a direct dialogue with the former residence designed by Rino Levi and landscaped by Burle Max (original from 1958), activating its characteristics. habitable and creating contrasts through the juxtaposition of materials. This is an occupation that transforms the gallery and presents, for the first time, the plurality of “ Campana DNA ”. Campana, a word that means “bell” in Italian, reverberates in the title “Polifonia Campana” in a visual sonority that transposes our senses and evokes Brazilian identity through materials, shapes, colors and textures. Every room in the house is filled with works that establish a dialogue between the vernacular , a leitmotif in the brothers' compositions, and the modernist design of the house. Materials such as charcoal, bamboo and Styrofoam reveal counterpoints with classical elements such as concrete, glass and wood. (Edouard Fraipont/CASACOR)
As one of the highlights, Fernando and Humberto Campana developed a new series of terracotta pieces to occupy the gallery's Annex Space. They are small tables and lamps that rescue both the Brazilian regional typology and the artists' affective memory.
