Welcoming visitors right at the entrance to the Bienal Pavilion, in Ibirapuera Park, in São Paulo, the
SP-Arte Access Square was designed by the
Plantar Ideias office – which is part of the
CASACOR São Paulo 2023 cast . In addition to designing the square, young architects and designers
Luciana Pitombo and
Felipe Stracci also presented two lines of furniture focused on the outdoor area, featuring
pieces that inspire sharing and raise awareness for the preservation of fauna and flora and they seek references in nature and in the creation of the country's traditional peoples. The first collection, the
Iaguara Line (jaguar in Tupi), reflects the duo's great admiration for the traditional peoples of Brazil and their tropical culture. Designing the pieces for the Soroteca Group, a Dutch-based sustainable teak wood company in Brazil, the company launched a series of
benches that are reminiscent of jaguars drinking water from the river . The design of the pieces is also based on a
reinterpretation of indigenous benches , but instead of carving the wood, the
teak wood is manufactured in planks and, using the laser cutting technique, the planks fit together and give life to the furniture. The pieces also receive a
texture that resembles the painting arts of traditional peoples , thus providing another layer of texture over the wood grains – the latter, which offers the durability and capacity necessary to keep the pieces outdoors.
The Pau e Pedra line was created during a trip to France, after observing the seating and social spaces, which led to a
reflection on the possibilities of seating in outdoor areas . Using concrete and wood, the furniture pieces stand out for their use of materials that are not only beautiful, but also durable.
At SP-Arte, the office also presented a
limited series of 10 benches with
gold applications , which add a layer of noble metal over the piece. In addition to the furniture lines displayed in the Access Square, the space's ambiance also featured a
botanical curation with tropical plants, which reinforce the signature of Plantar Ideias' projects.
