Rare pieces by Sérgio Rodrigues and Joaquim Tenreiro are on display at Copan

For the first time, the public will have access to the rich collection of furniture designed by Sérgio Rodrigues and Joaquim Tenreiro , created especially for the Manchete building , designed by Oscar Niemeyer in Rio de Janeiro, where the headquarters of Bloch Editores was located. Better known as Editora Bloch, it was one of the most important press conglomerates in the country from 1952 to 2000, and had Revista Manchete as its main title. Organized by the auction house Leilão Design, the exhibition of the Bloch Editores Collection takes place from August 12 to 16 at Copan , in São Paulo, and at the Leilão Design headquarters itself, bringing together 90 important pieces created in the 60s by two of the greatest designers Brazilian modernists. The auction will be held virtually and by telephone on the 16th, and will feature 90 lots with starting bids ranging from R$1,000.00 to R$30,000.00. The exhibition features important productions by the designers and even unique furniture made especially for the publisher's headquarters , as well as some pieces commissioned by Adolpho Bloch in the 1990s. These include furniture such as benches, tables, sofas, sideboards, chairs, shelves, among others. , many of which are made from solid wood species such as rosewood and freijó, for example. The production was done in two stages: the first by Joaquim Tenreiro from 1966 and the second part by Sergio Rodrigues, from 1968. Adolpho Bloch , then owner of the publishing house, developed a great friendship with Sérgio Rodrigues, who came to create a line of furniture that bears the businessman's name . Joaquim Tenreiro designed a series of furniture for Bloch's house in Teresópolis. A table from the same period will be available at auction (lot 48).
