Steel OCA features organic curves in the CASACOR MG landscape

The landscape of Serra do Curral frames the OCA living area, designed by the trio Bárbara Barbi , Jéssica Sarriá and Murad Mohamad for CASACOR Minas Gerais 2019. Winners of an architecture and interior design competition aimed at professionals at the beginning of their careers, the architects designed the project with a tendency towards artistic intervention in an external area of generous 200 m². A space for decompression and rest, the architectural piece stimulates a sensory experience of connection with nature, made possible by the open metal structure in corten steel, which was shaped in a golden curve and strategically positioned on the muiracatiara wood deck . In a spiral shape, the vertical structure was assembled from 420 slats of oxidized metal arranged on the highest floor, resulting in an organic design in the Burle Marx style. “This central, more welcoming area resembles a stylized hut in the middle of a contemporary square and will serve as a meeting point for visitors”, comments Jéssica.

In the surroundings, Kok Nature's desert garden shapes the selection of furniture and the color palette, giving priority to mountain tones, as well as natural materials, stones and textures, such as wood. Among the pieces in the composition is the set of tables designed by the trio that follows the arrangement of the upholstery. “The six tables are inspired by the design of leafy branches. The tops were made with exotic stones of different colors, and branch out into various shapes. heights and organic shapes from a fixed carbon steel structure”, explains Bárbara.

Two other areas, delimited by sofas, chaises and low tables, are guided by the movement of a long wooden bench. In the center of the spiral, a sculpture made with pieces of wood trunks and woven baskets is the work of artist Advânio Lessa. At the deck exit, a long corridor of slatted wood is closed off at the back by a wall of mirrors, where two swings from Ateliê Rodrigo Calixto, from Rio de Janeiro, are located. Their privileged position reflects the colors, lights and movement of the space. .
