In design, blending classic and contemporary styles can be a good aesthetic resource. However, the harmony of lines and colors depends on the talent of the creator, as shown by the new Alvorada collection, signed by architects and designers Sig Bergamin and Murilo Lomas for the brand +55design. This unprecedented partnership resulted in a collection that explores the exuberant and urban strokes of the duo, as well as the timeless sophistication proposed by the furniture brand. Composed of six pieces — tables, sideboards, sofas, and armchairs — the Alvorada collection is nationally produced and seeks to provoke the senses and dialogues through shapes, lines, fabrics, and textures. Some pieces exhibit attractive prints on fabrics provided by Entreposto — a specialized store and partner of Sig Bergamin and +55design. The partnership between the architects and the furniture brand was born from a relationship that began a few years ago when Ticiana Villas Boas, co-founder of +55design, lent some furniture for the projects of Sig Bergamin during an edition of CASACOR São Paulo. When encountering the bold combination of colorful fabrics applied to the brand's furniture, she was pleasantly surprised and reflected on how the blending of styles could result in a provocative and surprising aesthetic. “In this new collection, we can see the blend of Sig's characteristic eclectic style with the contemporary nuances of +55design, resulting in pure art. We want to show how the interplay between styles can reveal a fine aesthetic and acts as an invitation to step out of the comfort zone, provoking reflection on new possibilities. As I heard Sig say, it's a 'daring' bet, in the best sense of the word,” affirms Ticiana. Tatiana Amorim, who is also a co-founder of +55design, states that Sig's perspective seeks, beyond the functionality and sobriety of modernism from the 50s and 60s, to bring audacity and awaken the senses. “The dawn is the first light of morning, the birth of a new day. This collection is about a new perspective on everyday life, a new range of possibilities,” she says. With exclusive projects envisioned by Sig and Murilo, the pieces of the collection are highlighted on the second floor of the store, located in the Paulista capital, blended with other items from the brand's catalog, to demonstrate the versatility of combinations between styles. “We believe that design should not be rigid; it needs to keep up with the moment, the client, real life. And that’s what we try to provoke: furniture with soul, that tells stories and can be reinvented,” concludes Sig.
