Every year, NEMO selects iconic lamps designed by the greatest names in 20th-century design — including Le Corbusier and Charlotte Perriand, Franco Albini and Kazuhide Takahama — to produce in The Masters collection. This time, the genius honored is Vico Magistretti , one of the founding fathers of Italian design. The choice to pay tribute to the designer was made not only because of his innovative work, which redefined forms and made history in modern design, but also because this was the year in which Vico would have celebrated his 100th birthday.

The first luminaire designed by Magistretti in 1946, Claritas stands for clarity and luminosity. Produced together with Mario Tedeschi, the piece was made of inclined metal tubes, in black. In the edition reissued by NEMO, the aluminum diffuser was also painted black, while the inside was left white.

The Kuta lamp is the expression of Magistretti's main design concept: geometry. The minimalism inspired by Japanese design, which took hold in the 1970s, was decisive for the table and wall versions of the lamp. The piece is produced with a disc of aluminum in white or black, applied to chromed metal parts.[newsletter]
