The
Lúmen lamp is the original piece made by Bernardo in the 1960s and has accompanied the family ever since. Today, it complements the projects of the living room in his daughter's house, Angela Figueiredo. The lamp has an appropriate proportion to be placed next to sofas without occupying space on side tables, as it is a floor lamp, but its height provides the sensation of side lighting. The original piece was part of the exhibition about Bernardo Figueiredo at the Museum of Brazilian House in 2021.
The
Mares bench was found in the storage of Vera Figueiredo, Angela and Adriana's mother, in 2024 - and has been part of the family collection since the 1960s. Angela recalls that, as a child, she would stand on the bench and her feet would sink between the leather straps. It was these benches that traveled to Santo Cristo (RS), where the Schuster factory is located, for an
in loco study, which resulted in the reissue made of two noble materials, leather and wood. It is an individual bench that works very well in a unitary form or in groups when composing projects.
The
long Paraty bench is part of a unique collection of furniture designs made by Bernardo: memories about this piece are distant, but within the recent discoveries, the bench gained prominence for its contemporary, light, and well-structured design. "The bench has a light aesthetic grounded in materiality, where natural materials are purely applied to be functional. Looking at its functional proposal, in different dimensions, it is a product that meets different solutions for projects," says Mila Rodrigues, product curator of the brand. "Each reissue is born from a slow process of extensive study of the pieces on the factory floor, in photos or sketches, in addition to much affection," says Angela. "The result corroborates the timeless character of Bernardo's work - contemporary to Sergio Rodrigues and Jorge Tenreiro-, who, together, played key roles in significant transformations in Brazilian architecture and design," she adds.
The new reissues are part of a long history between Schuster and Bernardo's daughters, Angela Figueiredo and Adriana Figueiredo, who are responsible for the Acervo Bernardo Figueiredo, which has existed for 15 years. Among the highlights of the partnership are the reissue of pieces signed by Bernardo for the Itamaraty Palace and the Arcos chair, created exclusively for the Palace of Arcos and which, even today, is part of the projects of the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.
"Re-launching Bernardo's furniture means keeping alive the legacy and the very story of national furniture. Always alongside a typical Brazilian identity and discussing the way of being and living of Brazilians and their relationships with nature and their own philosophy," concludes Wilson Schuster, director of Schuster Móveis.
