SOUQ to Ceusa

It was on a trip to Sicily that businesswoman Traudi Guida was enchanted by the historic tiles , hand-painted in geometric patterns – a legacy of the Arabic influence on ceramics on the Italian island – and decided to translate them into a collection full of history, but with an air of contemporaries. The result came in a collaboration between the fashion label SOUQ (founded in 2013 by Traudi) and Ceusa : the Italian Days collection features ceramic models focused on the blue, white and yellow of the famous local landscapes. The prints arise from the combination of the following elements: acanthus leaves and fleurs de lis – two recurring motifs in the ancient architecture of Greece and Rome –, as well as curvilinear ornaments and frames. The pieces bring the shine of the lux effect, which combined with the slightly wavy appearance of the surface reminds us of Sicilian tiles.

Loretta Caponi for Hotel Savoy

(Divulgação/CASACOR)

In spring 2024, the Hotel Savoy in Florence presents a new collaboration with the Florentine brand Loretta Caponi : the designers created a set of table setting pieces inspired by chef Fulvio Pierangelini's new menu. The embroidery is meticulously done with cotton threads and the designs are individually made by hand – each one is perforated using the "dusting" technique, an ancient practice of preparing frescoes, also used in the art of embroidery. Over its almost 60-year history, the brand has gained a large group of loyal followers and admirers, including the Kennedy, Getty, Rothschild, Rockefeller families and Windsor royalty.
