During Milan Design Week, the Isola Design Festival takes place, organized by the design platform Isola, and which this year reaches its eighth edition. The chosen theme is called This Future is Currently Unavailable , which brings an invitation to think about design as a solution to many global socio-ecological issues, as explained by Gabriele Cavallaro, co-founder and CEO of Isola Design Group : "' This Future is Currently Unavailable' is not just a slogan , but a call to action and reflection . The idea emerged during our adventurous travels to global design events, sparking a vision of the immense potential within our design community. This year, Isola is on a journey to prove that design is more than just sustainability, it's a powerhouse for tackling real-world issues . We're just building a community, we're laying the groundwork for the future of design !" The festival aims to encourage an approach that goes beyond traditional design boundaries and conceptions, emphasizing future-oriented proposals that integrate innovation, sustainability and craftsmanship , ideas that are explored in the event's five main exhibitions:
1. Anatolia
Following its successful launch in Dubai, Isola brings Anatolia to Milan. Inspired by ancient crossroads of civilizations, this exhibition highlights the design of the Anatolian peninsula , evoking the atmosphere of the Silk Road. This historic trade route linked East and West, creating a vital hub for cultural exchange . This exhibition aims to present and enhance this rich historical knowledge of crafts and traditional techniques brought by participants from the Middle East to the international audience attending Milan Design Week.

4. Is One Life Enough
This show highlights collectible pieces and market-ready products, all created with sustainable materials and circular methods. It promotes a dialogue about the multiple possibilities of revitalizing products that are normally designed for a single life cycle. With an environmentally conscious assembly, it uses sustainable crafts, such as recycled egg carton pedestals and mycelium tops.

5. Routes to Roots
First seen in Saudi Arabia, the exhibition celebrates the heritage of the Middle East and North Africa. The focus will be on products that draw inspiration from ancestry , combining them with cutting-edge craftsmanship, in a demonstration of how emerging talent can breathe new life into the design scene, bridging the gap between tradition and innovation. On display are functional objects that highlight an eco-conscious approach to design, integrating biomaterials, natural resources, domestic and industrial waste, and blending traditional methods with innovation to create modern design pieces. All organized by Isola Studio, which offers global support for design companies and institutions.
