In his debut at DW! — São Paulo Design Week, which began on the 4th and will run until September 11, 2022 —,
Paulo Sérgio Niemeyer presented
Niemeyer Immersion : content that addresses the importance of designing
Oscar Niemeyer , his grandfather, in Brazilian architecture, with sketches and projects in which the two worked together.
Paulo belongs to the third generation of architects in the Niemeyer family: his mother, Ana Elisa, was also an architect and his design instinct was influenced by his maternal grandmother, Anna Maria Niemeyer, Oscar's only daughter. She designed several pieces of furniture for the Palácio do Planalto in partnership with with the father.
Paulo's work is reminiscent of architecture, with a structural concept, in a perfect mimicry between construction and design. His debut at the São Paulo festival took place on September 5th, at
BOOMSPDESIGN .
At the same event, a
collection of authorial rugs was launched for Cartacho Tapetes, with images of his engravings. For the porcelain brand Villagres, Paulo teamed up with Stúdio Vetro and, together, they launched a
collection of exclusive, decorated tiles. with his signature and inspired by the
lines and
curves that marked his grandfather's architectural work.
