Recognition given to the most significant projects of
Milan Design Week , the
Fuori Salone Award follows the closing of the events in the Italian city with the aim of promoting both the most unforgettable installations exhibited outside the
Salone del Móbile , selected from the public vote; and the contents, projects, activities of relevance and interest to the international community exhibited during the period, which receive an honorable mention from the members of the jury. And this year, the most memorable event of this edition selected by the design community is the exhibition '
KOHLER x Arsham: Divided Layers ', which was on display at Dove Palazzo Senato - Via Senato, 10, in Milan. The winner will receive a physical prize, made in 3D printing, and a related NFT, through which it will be possible to visualize in detail the data processing of Fuorisalone.
About the exhibition

Kohler 's exhibition featured the world premiere of a
large-scale immersive art experience titled "
Divided Layers ": an installation that builds on the duo's release of Rock.01, a 3D-printed sink designed by Daniel Arsham in collaboration with Kohler. The immersive installation is made up of a
series of stacked panels combined to form a
walkable tunnel . When developing Rock.01, Arsham was inspired to create Divided Layers to give guests the
ability to move around the sink . Each panel references a single plane of the 3D printed clay that comes together to form the sink.
Within the installation, a
lake acts as a mirrored surface to
duplicate and reflect the openness of the cavernous volume . Arsham intends for visitors to contemplate the acceptance of space and its malleability, understanding the relationship between the volumes. The cadence of the walls
mimics the rhythm of the columns within the Palazzo , contributing to an overall atmosphere that represents movement or flow.
