Confirming its role as a vanguard of design in Brazil,
Firma Casa , led by
Sonia Diniz Bernardini , marks its participation in
SP-Arte 2022 with a space entirely dedicated to the work of the young designer from Santa Catarina,
Lucas Recchia . Its premise is the
experimentation of new materials and techniques that reflect contemporary society and its desires. Two well-known pieces and eight new ones are part of the collection available at the fair. “
Morfa nº1 opens the exhibition, symbolizing the first piece of my career”, he explains. “And, to close,
Caco , the first limited edition piece that I did it”, he adds.
The sculptural furniture, which combines art and design, highlights
artisanal production methods , as well as
noble and rare materials (which is why the pieces are limited: eight units and three artist's proofs).
“The intention was
to combine ancestral techniques with contemporary modeling methods and thus achieve an aesthetic result that spans from the most remote times to the present day,” explains the designer.
Brazilian granite ,
exotic quartzite and
marble are also materials explored in Recchia's most recent creations. Highlights include a Brazilian marble that is reminiscent of the well-known red Travertine and gives rise to the
Ganesha bench , carved from solid natural rock. Or even the
Trís side table , made with reused marble, from small pieces of the noble rock not used by the industry.
The dialogue in Recchia's work also occurs in the
combination of glass with other materials . All of this characterizes an
original work full of personality , characteristics that Sonia Diniz Bernardini values when believing in new designers, as has already happened with names such as the Campana Brothers: “The Firma Casa’s job is to detect new talents, through boldness, creativity, and the choice of materials and shapes,” she says.
