At this year’s
Design Miami Basel 2023 , tradition meets innovation with a museum-quality line-up of design works on display in Switzerland. The fair, which runs from
June 13 to 18 , features booths from
25 of the world’s leading galleries in collectible design. A variety of rare and
historic pieces , as well as unique contemporary works, will be on display, offering a glimpse into the
international evolution of design and prompting viewers to rethink the divide between past and present.
Known for bringing several important French designers into the global spotlight since its founding in 1989, Paris’
Galerie Patrick Seguin will offer an exceptional presentation of works by
Jean Prouvé , including several of his chairs, each varying in typology or color.
New York ’s
Friedman Benda gallery has lined up an exhibition of chairs from some of the most influential designers, artists and architects of every generation. Older pieces include works by Ron Arad, Wendell Castle and Shiro Kuramata, while more recent offerings are from Samuel Ross, nendo and Faye Toogood.
Similarly, New York's
Thomsen Gallery will display works by a selection of Japanese bamboo basket makers from various eras, alongside a range of ceramic and bronze items. This year’s Design Miami Basel continues the tradition of
bringing together the most influential voices in the worlds of design and art, while celebrating the diversity of international galleries. The fair will take on a hybrid physical/digital structure, allowing audiences around the world to engage with the exhibition with a
3D virtual tour of the fair floor.
