"Whispers" is the name of the new exhibition by Jacqueline Terpins, a visual artist and designer who will be showing new pieces from her portfolio between October 20th and 30th. The emblematic name of the exhibition dialogues with different feelings and behaviors linked to the Brazilian scene, that, for the artist, "in silence, creative expression emerges as a means of externalizing what is heard internally".
The exhibition features pieces such as the Sussurro coffee table, the Eco dining table, the Atabaque stool and the Atabaques benches. The new pieces come at a time of celebration for the artist: the studio’s 20th anniversary.
For the artist, the Sussurro table "starts from a free, spontaneous form, which deviates from the plane of the material, through reliefs carved into its surface. It disorganizes the flow, the direction of the wood grain. The same action that disorganizes also highlights the diversity of new forms that these paths can reveal.”
The Eco dining table, according to Jacqueline, “is an expression guided by reason, in search of logic. Echo is a phenomenon of sound reflection. In order to exist, the presence of an obstacle is necessary, which guarantees the return of what was displaced and modified in time and space. Design the simple, based on the precision of symmetry and mirroring, and achieve balance with the minimum”.
The Atabaque stool – which, when multiplied, can become the Atabaques bench – confirms that “playfulness and creativity are inseparable. Both involve the willingness to rehearse, test and see the same reality from different angles”, says Jacqueline.
