After almost two years of seclusion and digital connections, ETEL is betting on a sensorial exhibition , and the relations between Brazil, Portugal and Spain that are explored in the eighteenth edition of SP-Arte 2022. With pieces exhibited for the first time in Brazil and signed by Patricia Urquiola, Joaquim Tenreiro and Daciano da Costa, the Gallery presents the link between past and present . It is a set of original re-editions and current editions designed by important precursors of modern design in contrast with creations of today, and the challenges of that time.

Already in present In the current moment, Patricia Urquiola, in partnership with ETEL, develops creations that materialize new forms of connection , revisiting the typology of carts that are a landmark in the history of Brazilian design, combining precious Brazilian woods, but in a current aesthetic, and that deals with sensitivity to the environmental challenges of our time.
The first experiment resulted in the creation of the Plasma material , designed by Lissa Carmona, CEO and curator of ETEL, for the Cascas line; composed of the Tea Cart, Container and Side table. The result was consolidated thanks to the partnership with Vallvé, which made it possible to combine this compound made from 80% renewable sources , wood chips from production together with polymer from plant sources and 20% mineral resins.
The second sustainable material is called Marwoolus® , made from marble waste and reminiscent of wool from the fashion industry , designed in Italy by Marco Guazzini. The innovative solution is used in the production of pieces from Patricia Urquiola's Roots line, composed of Central table, sideboard and the new Raízes side table, the latter on display at the Bienal Pavilion.

The SP-Arte stand , designed by the Siqueira Azul Arquitetura office, which is back at the Biennale this year in the building designed by Oscar Niemeyer , invites visitors to navigate sensorially through time and space , and allow themselves to experience the grandeur and excellence of the construction of the pieces signed by Joaquim Tenreiro, feel the colors and textures of Daciano da Costa, and be enveloped by the innovative materiality of Patricia Urquiola.
To celebrate this return of events for a large audience, crowned by Niemeyer, the pieces presented also symbolically migrate from the private residence to the public , from digital to analog, through a rehearsal held in the only São Paulo residence that has a record signed by Oscar.
