The
DW! Semana de Arte e Design de São Paulo is coming. The festival takes place from
March 10 to 16, 2025 and occupies various regions of the city, with installations, exhibitions, and launches. Each year, the event spreads even further across neighborhoods, attracting a larger number of people. This is the goal of the organizers in this edition.
In total, there will be eight districts — Santa Cecília, Barra Funda, and Higienópolis are new! — more than 120 exhibitors and
over 300 events available to the public. "DW! has been growing quantitatively and, primarily, qualitatively, consolidated as an urban festival of creative economy featuring various themes, with design connecting products, art, culture, gastronomy, and more. Our project for the next 10 years is to get closer to end consumers, bringing knowledge, reflections, and references to broaden the market," stated Lauro Andrade, CEO and creator of DW! Semana de Design.
It's worth planning ahead because no DW! is like the other. The creatives and participating brands strive to present unique events, fairs, artistic installations, lectures, and experiences at each edition — many available only during the festival period.
These are moments designed to celebrate the authorial design, creative economy, and the passion for this universe, from the scale of objects to the
city. It is a democratic festival, where a diverse audience gathers — from professionals and entrepreneurs in the sector to students and enthusiasts of the theme. Therefore, it is important to remember that there is no registration to participate in DW!.
Most events are free and open access, available to anyone interested in design. Thus, the tip is to create your own
itinerary separated by regions before heading out to enjoy DW!. To check all the events, consult the program on the
festival website, which is updated daily. However, to help you, we selected some highlights below!
Technology and craftsmanship inspire the theme for 2025

With the theme Hands and Machines, DW! São Paulo will stimulate reflections and discussions about the relationship between technology, especially artificial intelligence, and handcrafted making. In the design universe, this proposed duality is an opportunity to rediscover what is most human. If machines can expand our capabilities, it is the manuality that brings soul and expression to the creative process, reflecting in the final result. Another innovation is the event's visual identity, which changes with each edition, according to the theme. For the second consecutive year, it bears the signature of the studio
m-cau, led by architect, graphic designer, and educator Maria Claudia Levy Figliolino. The graphic design of this edition explores
tensions and creative possibilities. The conceptual structure references manual weavings, reminiscent of embroidery and
tapestries, but gains digital treatment and various layers of references, such as maps, pixels, geometric graphics, and circular fragmentations.
Metrópole Gallery, a lively hotspot

Part of the Centro district, the
Metrópole Gallery has been becoming one of the main addresses of DW! São Paulo year after year. And this edition will not be different. Just the
architecture of the building — designed by architects Gian Carlo Gasperini and Salvador Candia in the 1950s — is worth the visit, but the place is a dynamic and creative hub that will offer an intense program during the 14th edition of the São Paulo Design Week.
Starting March 13, the Metrópole Gallery will showcase the exhibition
Design in Motion, where the 17 resident studios will present unprecedented launches. Those who pass by can check at the entrance a communication that tells the story of the design movement in the gallery and, at the door of each studio, a mini-bio details the trajectory and inspirations of each creative. Additionally,
talks curated by architect, designer, and professor
Ale Salles will occur on March 22, themed Centrality in the Center. Another highlight is the exhibition
A Place, curated by architect Carolina Gurgel and consulting from design researcher and critic
Adélia Borges. The theme is Contemporary Brazilian Chairs, with about 50 pieces reflecting Brazilian authorial creation over the last 20 years. Organized and exhibited by Gabriel De La Cruz and Pedro Luna, the exhibition will be held on the 3rd floor of the Metrópole Gallery from March 10 to 23. The 2nd edition of the exhibit
Brazilian Authorial Design from Casa Baru, in partnership with TETO Casa, occupies the
showroom of this brand on the ground floor and will reflect on the interactions between humans and machines. More than 50 designers from all over Brazil will participate. Curated by architect Otavio Carderan, it will be exhibited from March 10 to 23, at store 22, ground floor of the gallery. Metrópole will also host the special edition
Upcycling promoted by the Jardim Secreto Fair, curated by Claudia Kievel, in partnership with the Retece Seal, which certifies the proper disposal of textile waste for micro and small Brazilian companies. Mark your calendars: the fair takes place from March 10 to 23. Lastly,
Estúdio Tropical, Risotropical, and Publica are promoting a series of meetings and workshops to explore graphic design as a language of creation. In store 15 – basement, from March 10 to 23.
Alameda Gabriel district comes with new features

With about 44 exhibitors,
Alameda Gabriel is one of the main districts of DW! and concentrates a large number of events, including launches, lectures, parties, conceptual installations, and other novel actions. One of the highlights of the program is
The Circuit of Digital Art and Design, composed of LED panels distributed along the path of Alameda Gabriel during the festival. Inspired by the theme Hands and Machines, various creatives will be invited to create digital pieces.
The Casa Docol is the official HQ of DW! SP 2025 and promises to energize the circuit. The space will host the programming of DW! Talks — a series of debates promoted by the event with the theme Hands and Machines. Over seven days, the façade of the Casa Docol will present an intervention by artist Jean Smekatz.
