Design Barra Funda 2025: understand how this year's event will be

The Design Barra Funda 2025 invites the public to discover another side of the neighborhood, voted one of the coolest by Time Out in the world, between November 29th and 30th. In its fifth edition, the event brings together about 24 studios, workshops, antiques shops, and creative spaces that shape the identity of the region, mixing new names with those already established. For those who are unfamiliar, the Design Barra Funda is a walking route, with free access for all, that proposes regional experimentation through the lens of design. The format is horizontal and collaborative, where attendees can learn about the modes of making that define the authorial scene of the district. “The proposal is to open paths and allow the public to closely know the processes, dialogues, and forms of production that drive design in the neighborhood,” says Cleo Döbberthin, visual artist and organizer of the event. “Each open studio reveals a way of thinking and creating, and together they form a living map of creation in Barra Funda,” she adds. Design as an expression of territory. The Design Barra Funda 2025 arises from the coexistence between creators who share the same desire: to reveal the strength of design as an expression of territory! Throughout the weekend, the public walks through streets and walkways, approaching the processes, techniques, and stories that hide behind each open door.A neighborhood's geography is what defines the route, a pathway constructed from the neighborhood among the spaces, without hierarchies or fixed itineraries. Each visitor traces their own path, guided by curiosity and the rhythm of walking. In common, all participants have authorial design and craftsmanship as a starting point, in a dialogue that reflects the diversity and vitality of the creative district.
