The Brazilian accent spoke loudly during the Milan Design Week, which took place from April 7 to 13, 2025. This time, the Brazilian Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments (ApexBrasil) ensured the presence of around 90 exhibitors at the event. Of these, 57 were part of the "Chuva de Caju" exhibition, which occupied a noble space at the University of Milan, an important historical building in the Italian city that is part of the FuoriSalone circuit, a parallel exhibition that collects projects in art and culture. Brazil was also present with its brands at iSaloni, the largest event dedicated to the furniture sector in the world.
The curator Bruno Simões selected works based on the theme Chuva do Caju, a popular natural phenomenon typical of Brazil's northeast: it is a scarce precipitation that occurs even during the dry season that gives a boost to the flowering of cashew trees, considered a symbol that a good harvest is coming. In the exhibition, the expression has a broader meaning, referring to unpredictability and transformation.
“We went from the green of the leaves of the Amazon to the yellow and red of the cashew, which represents so well the Brazilian nature. The cashew is by excellence the Brazilian fruit. This is surprising for visitors, who will have the pleasure of enjoying this amount and quality of our design. We are expecting more than 5,000 Brazilians during this important Milan Design Week and I am sure that many foreigners will be attending.” –
Ambassador Hadil da Rocha Vianna, Consul General of Brazil in Milan. Those who were there could see up close the creative and sustainable vein of Brazilian design, full of authenticity and beauty. Among the participating brands, 12 are from the North and Northeast regions and 33 are participating in the event for the first time. The selection of pieces includes high-end furniture, decorative objects, lamps, ornamental stones, ceramic coatings, and many pieces of folk art.
“Our exhibition Chuva do Caju reveals the best that the North and Northeast have in sustainability. It's representative of all of Brazil, but here we are indeed showing what we do with Brazilian wood, from standing forest. It is a material that Brazilian design uses, being a success in Italy. It is ApexBrasil's role to take what Brazil has best to the world.” –
