In partnership with Cassina and Fondation Le Corbusier , Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta presents the installation "On the Rocks" during Milan Design Week 2024 .
A visit to Palazzo San Fedele , Milan’s historic building, reveals the exhibition’s centerpiece : the LC14 Tabouret Cabanon , a timeless table design by architect and urban planner Le Corbusier that showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of Italian brand Cassina.
The installation’s title,
“On the Rocks ,” pays homage to the origin story of the
Tabouret —the Portuguese for
“little stool” —by referencing both the coastal setting of Le Corbusier’s Cabanon and the
whiskey crate that sparked the design.
'On the Rocks' features bespoke editions of the
LC14 Tabouret , originally commissioned by
Matthieu Blazy , Bottega's creative director, for the
Bottega Veneta Winter 24 show set.
The leather iterations are available in
four colors: Red, Yellow, Blue and “Raintree Green,” and showcase the
Intreccio foulard techniques intrinsic to the house’s design principles. These fusions of
fashion and
furnishing are handwoven in Bottega Veneta’s artisanal atelier in Montebello, near Vicenza.
A
special brushstroke technique is employed to cover the leather with colored paint, followed by a layer of black paint that is partially removed. This process results in a
textured finish unique to each piece. Only
60 leather editions and
100 wooden editions will be available for purchase.
