“The clients asked for large, connected spaces, for the staircase to access the mezzanine to be lighter and more fluid and for the kitchen to be open to the living room”, says architect
Natalia Lemos about this
270 m² apartment in Lagoa (RJ). The professional is part of the cast of
CASACOR Rio .
According to the architect, the general idea of the project was
to maximize the view of the Lagoon and take advantage of the
room 's generous ceiling height, which is 4 m high and houses a mezzanine, where the TV room and office are currently located.
“We designed a new
white metalwork staircase , with a hollow side and a suspended first step, and we covered the entire back wall with
natural oak panels . The result was light and sculptural, just the way the clients wanted, as well as being super different”, he says.
The wall that separated the kitchen from the living room was demolished and replaced with sliding doors with wooden frames and corrugated glass to allow natural light to pass through.
In the decoration, the architect prioritized
timeless wooden furniture , designed by renowned Brazilian designers, with emphasis on the Pitu chaise with ottoman and the Aurora dining chairs (by
Aristeu Pires ), the Curva chair (by
Joaquim Tenreiro ), the pair of armchairs Mirah (by
Jader Almeida ), the Cob coffee table (by
Frederico Cruz ) and the Gabriela stools (by
Daniela Ferro ).
Among the works of art, Natalia mentions the diptych by artist
Fernanda Namam (in the dining area) and her large one by artist
Moacyr Travaglia ( on the mezzanine wall facing the living room).
For the color palette, the architect started with a neutral base - made up of light shades of off white, gray and fendi - and chose oak wood as the finish for the joinery designed by her to create a sophisticated atmosphere in the spaces and, at the same time, , make them more welcoming.
In the social area, she added touches of green with different shades to some decor elements - such as carpet, cushions, artwork and plants - with the intention of bringing the colors of the Lagoon and its surroundings into the home.
