The elements of traditional Minas Gerais cuisine are all there: the wood-burning stove, the open cabinets of a country store, the rustic brick, the fruits and vegetables on display. The idea behind the
Leroy Merlin Kitchen , however, makes all the difference: even without giving up the rustic, architect
Felipe Soares ' project for
CASACOR Minas Gerais 2019 presents a cleaner, almost minimalist aesthetic.
Under the architect's watchful eye, the important environment in Minas Gerais culture is renewed. With a contemporary feel, the kitchen features a central T-shaped island, which houses the wood-burning stove, sink and table. The red of the burnt cement common in interior kitchens reappears in a darker tone, present in the epoxy resin coating of the structure.
With very simple lines, made of pine, the cabinet follows the same philosophy of practicality: it holds fruit bowls, plates, glasses and pans within easy reach, uncovered. The combination transforms it into a versatile object, also in homage to the old state warehouses.
The white hydraulic tile reinforces the clean look of the kitchen, which features other elements common to the interior of Minas Gerais, such as the jaboticaba tree, which appears planted in a pot. The works of art chosen for the project are subtle interferences that reinforce the accent of the state, as in the works of
Mabe Bethônico and
Flávia Bertinato .
