When renting or buying a property to call your own, it's common to want to see the spaces take shape quickly. But perhaps this rush isn't a good strategy when it comes to
decorating . After all, creating well-designed spaces with personality takes time. A term that has been gaining relevance lately has everything to do with this. It’s called
slow décor . This trend in the interior design world consists of decorating the home
slowly and
consciously instead of quickly filling the spaces. It is worth mentioning that
slow décor is also related to the theme that guides
CASACOR in 2024 , which is "As a gift, the now". In the exhibitions throughout Brazil, what we see are projects with details inspired by
affective memories , creating an atmosphere of a real home.
Slow down and enjoy the moment!

The
slow décor trend emerged as a response to our current lifestyle, where everything is thought out and done quickly in the midst of a hustle and bustle that is often unjustified. Therefore, the idea here is
to slow down and
enjoy the moment of creating the decor — from choosing the
coverings to defining the furniture and objects.
Another crucial point addressed by this trend is the fact that
quality is more important than quantity.
Timeless , high-quality pieces that have a personal meaning will last much longer. In addition to being a
sustainable attitude, since we are talking about durable products, the result will be a
décor that you will enjoy for a long time.
Tips for adopting slow decor
1. Choose quality over quantity

Avoid buying too many things at once. Make
careful choices and invest in pieces that have an interesting
design and are sustainable. Think, for example, of solid
wood or reclaimed wood tables,
leather sofas,
vintage finds and
handmade objects. In general, these pieces tell stories, display a timeless beauty and become even more beautiful with time. Another tip is to avoid trends that you may quickly tire of.
2. Suitable for any style

Unlike other movements in architecture and interior design,
slow decor is not restricted to just one specific style. This trend is
democratic and says more about your choices, what you like and what makes you happiest. You can opt for
Scandinavian decor with an
earthy tone palette or create a colorful space full of prints and vintage finds, for example. Anything is possible.
3. Practice prospecting

Take advantage of this process to
exercise your eye and search for treasures in
antique shops and fairs, for example. Find out which are the most interesting places to find
vintage objects and furniture and go shopping with what you need in mind to avoid making impulsive decisions. When choosing a piece, be sure to inspect it thoroughly to see if it is in good condition or if it will need any repairs.
4. Add personality
(Renzo Rebagliati/CASACOR)
Bringing your
personal tastes and
history into your spaces has everything to do with
slow décor . Thinking about your decor without rushing also means expressing yourself through it and showing your personality in the design. For example, include photos of special moments in your life, display family heirlooms and collections of souvenirs from your travels, and display works of art that you may have created yourself. These items make the decor more emotional and truly yours.
5. Think about sustainability

In addition to making more durable choices, invest time in researching the materials and production processes of the things you buy. Preferably, opt for
natural materials that last a long time and products manufactured in a
fair production chain and with good working conditions. Also, think twice before getting rid of old furniture: you can repair and refurbish it to use it in a new way.
