As a way of paying homage to and praising one of the greatest names in Brazilian design, Stampa and IAB-ES are joining forces at
CASACOR Espírito Santo 2018 to create a gallery dedicated to the renowned professional.
The
Sergio Rodrigues Gallery is divided into three rooms of 15 m² each, bringing together the designer's main pieces. The first space exclusively presents the
Bianca dresser. Its original design was sketched by Sergio in 1993 and relaunched in 2005. The sideboard has wooden panel structure with solid header and drawers.
Two
Oscar armchairs, one on each side of the dresser, are also a highlight in this first room. The armchair, created in 1956, was a tribute by Sergio to the architect Oscar Niemeyer. The piece has a turned solid wood structure and a seat and back in natural straw.
Still in this 1st room, another new product from Stampa, the
Tonico armchair, created by Sergio in 1963 and inspired by the iconic
Mole armchair. The piece, made of freijó wood in straight lines, with a seat and back covered in fabric or leather, is one of the most important drawings by Sergio and pays homage to his brother-in-law, Antônio Mattos.
Continuing the route, the visitor will enter the Second Room, which is dedicated to Sergio Rodrigues' greatest creation, the iconic
Mole armchair, created in 1957, one of the most important works of national furniture of the 20th century.
The
Mocho bench (1954), the designer's first creation, and the
Mucki bench/base complement this space.
To conclude the tour through the designer's history, the Third Room highlights the
Diz armchair, created in 2001, which has become one of the classics of Sergio Rodrigues' production. Also in the room is the
Kilin armchair, considered another masterpiece. by the designer, named after Vera Beatriz, Sergio's wife. The
Cantu chair, created in 1958, is a classic by the designer and completes the entire décor.
