Through various decorative items, it is possible to apply a bit of personality to a space. Flooring is one of them and some professionals from CASA COR Minas Gerais 2015 invested in this tactic to highlight their environments.

Using a different type of covering, the professionals at Situar Projetos -- interior designer Rosângela Brandão Mesquita and architect Eduardo Henrique -- created a cool bedroom. “When you think of covering for a bedroom, wallpaper is always the first option. But we wanted to innovate and, after learning about a new covering from Oca Brasil that resembles tiles, we had the idea of using it in the bedroom. With this, we were able to bring a Brazilian touch, improve the acoustics of the room, highlight the wall and break away from the conventional wisdom,” comment the professionals at Situar Projetos.

Architects Nathália Otoni and Luciana Araújo, from Óbvio Arquitetura, believe that this type of material attracts people's attention and creates an interaction between them and the space. In the Gourmet Kitchen at the Minas Gerais exhibition, the professionals opted for brick. “The use of this covering in the kitchen is to give a very rustic touch and bring a cozy and homey feeling to the space,” explain the architects from Óbvio Arquitetura.

“It is often through the coverings that the environment comes to life,” says interior designer Melina Mundim, who designed the Living Room for the show. The professional used gabion as covering — a structure made of steel and filled with stones — to accompany the wooden structure of the space. “Stone is a material that goes very well with wood. The idea was to create a rustic structure to house refined furniture that becomes cozy when combined,” says Melina.
