Nostalgic, playful and welcoming : these are the credentials of the project designed by Eloy and Felipe Fichberg, father and son at the helm of the Trees Arquitetura office. Built to order, the project sought to deliver originality in the resident's first solo apartment . Eloy and Felipe used the generational gap to their advantage and completely renovated a 90m2 apartment , combining retro and futuristic styles . Given free rein to completely redesign the space, the duo gave new shapes and personality to the project, which stands out from more traditional apartments .

This was a very special project, made with great affection for my best friend. The idea we sought to convey was a representation of how people in the 70s and 80s thought the present day would be. Therefore, we were inspired by content that focused on showing new technologies and features of this vision, such as 007 films and series like Mad Man and The Jetsons ,” says Felipe Fichberg .

Vintage and current

Every detail of the apartment was designed to convey the sensation of being transported to an alternative reality. The living room exudes this vision through the use of woodwork, which inserts observers into a modern perspective — in which the lines highlight the organic shapes to promote softness. We designed all the furniture with the aim of highlighting a unique appearance using a solid wood structure and the curved pattern of the 70s. The entire arrangement results in an inviting and welcoming environment ,” say the architects.

The sofa, custom-made by the firm, expresses elegance and warmth combined with a vibrant shade of blue that draws attention. To complete the look, the rug next to the table, both in organic shapes, makes the living room more natural and fluid when necessary, replacing the straight lines that predominated in decoration projects of the last decades.

The curved table and sofa work together to create a sense of well-being, ergonomics and comfort in the flow of circulation in the office . The furniture was designed by the architects and made just for the space, making the arrangement even more unique.

The bedroom follows a fun idea of retro futuristic aesthetics by displaying a structure inspired by a ship's cabin: notice that the wall at the head of the bed resembles the windows of large vessels. “We designed a work of art with innovative design that fits the concept of blending past and future . To further enhance it, we invested in indirect LED lights that were embedded in the curves. The yellowish color is intentional to emanate an even more cozy atmosphere,” explains Eloy Fichberg.

Kitchen from another decade

With the charm of the 80s, the kitchen also received a retro aesthetic with a modern touch. Hence the choice of the yellowish tone – a dream come true for many homeowners of that period. In this reinterpretation, the candy yellow gives the space a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere and the built-in cabinets received new handles, in addition to discreetly incorporating the warm tower with state-of-the-art appliances. The kitchen also has an integrated small island with a cooktop to add more functionality to the space.

The dining room has been integrated into the social areas and benefits from the earthy tones throughout the space. With an intimate and modern atmosphere , the rectangular dining table with six upholstered chairs adds a touch of comfort. Every detail has been carefully thought out to offer a unique experience , report the professionals.
