"Time, lord of all rhythms. Composer of destinies... you are one of the most beautiful gods." These verses by Caetano Veloso echo as the perfect soundtrack for Refúgio de Memórias , an environment designed by architect Bruna Tuon Sposito , from SUM + Studio , in her second participation in CASACOR Santa Catarina | Florianópolis 2024 . The 110 m2 space is made up of living and dining rooms, an integrated kitchen, a guest bathroom and a laundry room. The layout was very well designed with items that tell the architect's own story. Bruna was born in the countryside of São Paulo, but has lived in Florianópolis for many years, close to the ocean that bathes the state (and floods her mind with creativity). That's why she decided to bring in elements from the countryside and the coast to represent these two moments in her life. Words and phrases from a book written by her grandmother were framed, and the back of one of the armchairs was embroidered by another grandmother, who always dedicated herself to manual arts . In addition, two armchairs used by her grandfather are part of the composition. Each piece carries family stories , transforming the space into a tribute to affection and memory. "I wanted to honor my roots, and this space is also a legacy for my children," says the professional. Although steeped in memories, the project concept also embraces innovation. The furniture features pieces made from the Uva tree, an invasive species in Rio Grande do Sul. Bruna highlights the beauty of reusing materials that would otherwise be harmful to the environment, promoting a sustainable cycle that deserves to be discussed in architecture.
