Mother and daughter bought this
105 m² apartment in Laranjeiras (RJ) when the building was still under construction and, as soon as they received the keys, they commissioned architect
Rafael Ramos to design a complete renovation of all the rooms. “In the project, they asked to integrate the social area, the
kitchen and the
balcony to increase the feeling of spaciousness in the spaces,” says the professional.

The main change to the original plan was the demolition of the wall and the elimination of the doors that separated the balcony from the living room, and the leveling of the floors to increase the usable area of the property, duly regularized with the City of Rio. “
With this, we created a second living space in the space of the old balcony, integrated with the TV room ,” says Rafael.

The
kitchen , which was already open to the dining room and TV room, gained a
dividing counter, which took on the function of a pantry . “Overall, the main concept of the project was to create integrated and versatile spaces to overcome the diagonal layout, with some very complicated walls”, he summarizes.

The
gourmet area , installed between the main kitchen and the side of the balcony (now integrated into the living room), was equipped with a
gas barbecue, countertop with sink and lower cabinet .

The decoration project was guided by some designer pieces that the clients already had and were used in the new location, especially the Teca coffee table, the Milla dining chairs and the Dinn pendant lights, all creations by designer
Jader Almeida . Everything else is new, purchased according to the project specifications.

The color palette has a neutral base, in
soft and light tones , with added colors in the ornaments, cushions, pictures and round rug in the living room (made of natural fiber dyed green) to create a more feminine atmosphere.

The joinery was made from
MDF in the American oak pattern – with the addition of
gray melamine in the mother's bedroom closet and fluted glass doors in the daughter's closet –, while the floor was covered in gray porcelain, the ceiling was given a cement texture and the walls were painted white.
