Renovation makes Rio apartment feel like home

A more practical plan with integrated spaces to make the daily life of a young family more enjoyable. This was the request heard by architects Beto Figueiredo and Luiz Eduardo Almeida , partners at Ouriço Arquitetura. "In this renovation project, we sought a simple, timeless tone that would emphasize the connection with the garden and the green view from the large terrace , where the pool and leisure area are located," explains Beto Figueiredo. Located in the Ipanema neighborhood, in Rio's South Zone, the triplex kept the social area on the first floor, with a kitchen and utility rooms – all well integrated. On the second floor, there is a private TV room and terrace, and on the third floor, the family bedrooms .

"We incorporated a mix of classic, timeless coverings throughout the project, with designer pieces and antique finds - creating a set of styles that make the spaces more personal and less standardized. There is a homey feel, an intimate, welcoming atmosphere, of a house decorated little by little, with affectionate choices," says the architect. Another great highlight of the property is the staircase . Its structure was completely redone to make it lighter and more sculptural. Below it, a jabuticaba tree brings a bit of greenery to the interior of the house. And, up high, a skylight provides the light that the tree needs for its branches to grow and for it to bear fruit. "It's a tree with fruit, that grows, develops, and is always changing: a living being in the house, a food for the eyes..." says Beto, who during the pandemic joined the team of those who create indoor gardens even in their own homes. Beto Figueiredo and Luiz Eduardo Almeida are among the 57 professionals participating in CASACOR Rio , which this year will take place between March 2 and April 25 in an iconic mansion located in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood.
