During the pandemic, a couple aged between 35 and 40, both in the marketing field and with two young children, bought this linear penthouse with 170 m² of built area and 40 m² of external area in Laranjeiras (a neighborhood in the south zone of Rio). de Janeiro), to transform it into his new home.

As the apartment was very old and the new owners had little time to move in, they commissioned architect Cristina Bezamat, from the
Bezamat Arquitetura office, to carry out a complete renovation, but without demolition, in the most important rooms of the new address: social area, master bedroom couple and kitchen.

“Due to the tight deadline for the project and construction, there were no changes to the property’s layout. We only changed the floor and redid the plaster ceiling to create new lighting,” says the architect.

The concept for the project emerged after the first contacts with the clients. They wanted a completely new, “affectionate” and timeless decoration, anchored by contemporary pieces, but without losing the feeling of comfort and freedom, as well as more open spaces for the children. could play.
“The clients presented a more colorful palette with tones to give the spaces more personality. They also showed interest in natural materials and artisanal finishes. All of these demands served as inspiration for our proposal,” explains the architect.

The architect also noticed that the residents wanted a decoration in which each piece had its own language and a striking presence, while still harmonizing with the surroundings, such as the green canvas upholstered sofa.

The bookcase designed by the office and made in carpentry also gained a lot of importance in the set. “The idea was to create a support point for a record player, LPs and a
wine cellar , as well as other items. To give a perception of continuity and prevent it from becoming stood out too much, we lacquered the furniture in the same color as the side wall,” explains Bezamat.

The natural fiber swing fixed to the ceiling, next to the bookshelf, was requested by the clients themselves, and the architect used it to create a playful corner for them to listen to music in a more relaxed way. In the social area, the Proa armchair by Fernando Jaeger also stands out. Atelier, and the Toti bench, by Bernardo Figueiredo.

With a tropical feel, the bathroom features wallpaper with a maxi-leaf pattern and a hanging shelf that supports vases with natural vegetation. Another highlight is the matte black granite countertop, with a sink carved from the material itself.
