Beautiful and safe bathrooms also require different types of flooring that offer practical solutions without compromising style. When designing the space, it is important to choose the finishes that play a crucial role in functionality and in the visual appeal of the space. In addition to harmonizing with the aesthetics of the projects, the finishing must be moisture resistant, slip-resistant, and easy to clean — essential features for comfort in daily life.

1. Porcelain Tile

Villagres - Etruscan Line: the Etruscan design, known for the detailing of its artworks and the refinement of its gemstone cutting, inspired the creation of this porcelain line. The marble in grayish tones with light veins, enhanced by a touch polish in a matte or high gloss texture, brings elegance to internal projects.

The porcelain tile is one of the most versatile finishes on the market. With options that simulate marble, wood, stone, or burned cement, it adapts to modern, classic, or rustic projects. In addition to its visual appeal, it has high resistance to water and long durability. This type of flooring also features different finishes — polished, satin, and slip-resistant — that allow its use both in the dry and wet areas of the bathroom. The slip-resistant model, for example, is ideal for inside the shower, offering more security.

2. Ceramic

Ceramics are a traditional and democratic finish, widely used in bathrooms for their good cost-benefit ratio and wide variety of colors, shapes, and textures. Among the types of flooring available, it is an affordable and efficient option. In addition to the aesthetic variety, ceramics are easy to install and clean. When chosen with a slip-resistant finish, it also works well in wet areas. This is a particularly interesting choice for those seeking practical and economical solutions.

3. Burned Cement

Burned cement has gained space in bathrooms with a minimalist, industrial or urban proposal. Its continuous finish creates a sense of amplitude and elegant simplicity, which enhances the space with personality.
For humid areas, it is recommended to use versions with waterproofing additives or specific sealers, which increase the material's resistance to water. It is also possible to choose porcelain tiles and ceramics that faithfully reproduce the appearance of burned cement, with the advantage of greater safety and durability.

4. Natural Stone

The natural stones, such as marble and granite, are indicated for bathrooms that seek a touch of sophistication. With unique veining and varied tones, each piece brings an exclusive finish, elevating the aesthetic standard of the projects. The granite is more resistant and less porous, ideal for wet areas. While marble, although more delicate, is highly valued in washrooms and countertops. Both require care with waterproofing and cleaning, but are rewarding for their striking and timeless aesthetics.

5. Vinyl Flooring

Project of CASACOR Rio Grande do Sul 2023.[/caption> The vinyl flooring, made of PVC, is an interesting solution for dry areas of the bathroom, such as the entrance or countertop spaces. Its surface is more comfortable to the touch, provides thermal insulation, and reduces noise, making its use more pleasant. Easy to install, the vinyl can be laid over other floors with little mess and in a short time. It is also available in different patterns (including wood-like ones!) — which provide a cozy and contemporary look. It is important to remember: the material should not be used inside the shower or in areas with constant water accumulation.

How to choose between types of flooring

Before deciding among the different types of flooring, it is essential to evaluate the profile of the residents, the use of the space, and the style of the project. In bathrooms with heavy traffic or where elderly and children reside, safety should be a top priority, favoring slip-resistant flooring. In washrooms or areas less exposed to moisture, it is possible to invest in more delicate or sophisticated finishes, such as polished marble or shiny porcelain. Meanwhile, burned cement and vinyl floors match more contemporary projects, offering the right balance of aesthetics and practicality.
