In yet another participation in
CASACOR São Paulo , architect
Paulo Azevedo unveils an unforgettable environment, full of personal touches and rich in narrative, in this edition of the show. This mountain retreat is a true testament to comfort and personality.
The
Lake Cabin is not just a decorative space; it is a journey through time and space. To inspire him, Paulo created the fictional story of the couple Lauro and Frigga, a biologist and a Danish Red Cross volunteer. After getting married, and with their children already independent, they decided to leave Europe in search of a more welcoming place. They built this sanctuary with several references from their journeys in a more isolated mountainous location, seeking
to reconnect with nature and with themselves .
One of the features that makes this 70m2 space even more welcoming is the choice of a lowered ceiling and soft yellowish ivory tones on the walls. The use of traditional prints , such as florals, stripes and checks, brings a sense of nostalgia and harmoniously complements the decorative items. The color palette, with a light base that evokes the simplicity of the 90s , is updated with touches of blue and red in the decor, creating a balance between past and present. Warm
lighting is distributed across different floor, wall, table and pendant lamps, allowing for the creation of a variety of different settings.
The wall lamp shades, made from linen by Polly Blanc, lend a handcrafted and cozy touch to the space. The
floor , a natural wood, was left unprotected and exposed to the natural wear and tear of the work, giving it a
rustic and lively appearance. The walls and fireplace, with a kind of
patina and aging done by hand by the architect himself , tell a story of time and dedication, as if it were a truly inhabited space.
The curtains , created with fabric scraps in different widths, form a vertical patchwork with a frayed finish and a ruffled top, adding another layer to the composition of textures. Some very personal elements make up the production, such as the frame of vintage shorts next to the bar and the vintage Hunter boots – items acquired by the architect himself on a trip to the USA. Other items such as antique furniture and old oriental rugs delve even deeper into the
folk aesthetic.
The olfactory identity , developed by Jo Malone, with the aroma lime basil and mandarin, envelops the space, providing a complete sensory experience. An interesting fact about this space is that the flowers and plants are artificial: "if Ralph Lauren can do it, so can we", jokes the architect. This project is not about creating trends, but rather celebrating the
stories that shape our lives. Every detail of Lake Cabin reminds us of the beauty found in
simple things and the comfort of shared memories. It is a place where each visit is a new blank page, ready to be filled with new
memories .
