With several works outside Brazil, especially in Portugal, architect
Maurício Nóbrega – from the
CASACOR Rio cast – has a special affection for the renovation he carried out in this apartment in
Estoril , which was completely modernized. Overlooking the sea, well located and in front of the Casino, it has balconies around the rooms and belongs to a businessman of Portuguese origin, but resident of São Paulo.
"I had already built a house for this client in São Paulo and as the family spends many seasons in Portugal,
they called me to give a more contemporary look to the property measuring around 200 m² , with three comfortable suites. Even though they really liked the place , they thought it was old-fashioned", says the architect.
The walls were removed, integrating the hall, living and dining
room and opening space for a gallery where canvases by famous Portuguese painters are on display, such as
José Malhoa, Dordio Gomes, Almada Negreiros, Carlos Botelho , as well as a lithograph by
Picasso .
According to Maurício, the highlight of the renovation was the purchase and installation of the
antique tile panel that covers the entire back wall of the dining room. "The change of coverings, the new lighting, the mix of old Portuguese family furniture with contemporary furniture made all the difference. The super modern dining table is from France's
Maxalto , the light and discreet pendant is from
Foscarini and the chairs are from Brazil.

As working from home is a constant nowadays, the client bought a store on the ground floor of the same building and set up his office there. "It is a duplex that is at street level, but is not exposed, it has a lot of privacy, because to make the workplace even less invasive, we installed sunshades - the perfect solution so that it is not visible to anyone passing by. The meeting table It's on the top level and the secretary's room is on the bottom level", concludes Maurício.
