Big names came together to design this 570 m² house located on Baleia beach, on the northern coast of São Paulo: the architecture is by
Gui Mattos and the landscaping is by
Rodrigo Oliveira . But it is in the interiors that the personality of the residents appears, creating a cozy coastal refuge – here, the person responsible for the project is the architect
Nildo José .
"The clients didn't want an urban identity, but rather a portrait of the Brazilian coast, a space to enjoy the routine of a beach town, in a cozy and uncluttered way," explains the professional.
As the residence was newly built, there were no changes to the plumbing system and the finishes in the wet areas were maintained. Only electrical points were changed to follow the project.
As the client is an art collector and a lover of Brazilian design, the furniture selection was made with great care. Highlights include the
Bowl Armchair , a classic by
Lina Bo Bardi , and the
Jangada armchair , by Jean Gillon. Both are in the living room, next to the corten steel fireplace.
In terms of finishing touches, the main concern was to choose materials that would be durable and easy to maintain in the coastal region. Highlights include the limestone floor, the wooden ceiling in the living room and the natural oak veneer panels.
