To have a comfortable, cozy and practical micro-apartment , a quality organization project is essential. Cleaning, investing in hives, boxes and baskets can even be a first step, but here it is important to emphasize that organization is different from tidying up. To tidy up is the verb "to put in order"; it means taking care of the aesthetics, making the environment pleasant to the eye. While the action of organizing the space is to arrange the objects in a functional and logical way, defining a place for each thing — so that it is easy to find them, for example.

“The organization of a small apartment has to be studied and measured , because otherwise, the hives and boxes you bought will become just another strange being lost in the space,” says Carla Rodrigues , organization specialist and residential designer. cozinha; apartamento pequeno; São Paulo; decoração So, to make your micro-apartment a harmonious and well-being space, we spoke with personal organizer Carla Rodrigues , who shared 7 tips on how to organize a space of just a few square meters in the best way possible. Check it out!

1. Categorize everything!

The first step to successful organization is to categorize your belongings , i.e. dishes with dishes, glasses with glasses, tank tops with tank tops, pants with pants. “If a person can categorize, it’s already a great start to finding everything they need in that place.” Ticiane Lima - Casa Tempo, projeto da CASACOR São Paulo 2021.

2. It's time to sectorize

Sectorizing and categorizing are not synonymous — at least not in the vocabulary of the organization. Sectorizing means directing all the items that you have categorized , for example, putting all your tank tops in the first drawer of your closet. And then, continue doing this step with all the other things! Which sector will be the makeup sector? The packaging? The mugs?

5. Invest in key elements

Honeycombs, transparent boxes, airtight containers and baskets are key (and indispensable) elements for organizing your micro-apartment. Multifunctional, you can add them to drawers and shelves to limit space and help with clutter.

“With these elements, you can visualize everything you have in your space. By using transparent boxes, for example, you can see that you already have two packages of pasta — and that you don’t need to buy another one.”

6. Scan your documents

Do you know those undergraduate texts that you've been saving for years and never touched again? Or that pile of paperwork that you've been accumulating and now just needs to be sorted out? Well, it's time to scan all of that into a computer and only leave the essentials printed and stored.

7. Have the right amount for the space

To successfully organize a micro-apartment, you need to be aware of the amount of clothes, dishes, products and other items that you accumulate in your home. If you have too much and have been storing it for years, it's time to let go! “Unfortunately, if you live in a micro-apartment, it won’t be possible to store 5 dinner sets, for example. There’s no need for that either,” says Carla. “You have to see everything you have. If you’re not seeing it and you’re not using it, you ’re not missing it ,” he adds. Projeto de Todos Arquitetura.
