This
360 m² apartment in Ipanema (RJ) has views of the
beautiful Christ the Redeemer statue from the bedrooms and living room. So much so that the renovation and decoration project by architects
Carolina Escada and Patricia Landau , from
Escala Arquitetura and
CASACOR Rio , prioritized the view and used neutral colors to highlight the landscape from the windows. “The residents asked us for spacious spaces, a suite for each of their two children and an office that could also function as a guest room,” says Carol.

Among the main changes to the property's layout, the guest
bathroom was split into two to transform the son's bedroom into a suite, while the bathroom in the daughter's suite was created by eliminating one of the service
bedrooms .

The timeless carpentry and furniture were designed to accompany the family's different phases over the years. In general, the architects prioritized pieces with different textures and brought in pops of color in some pieces. Among the designer items, they highlight the Isabel swivel armchairs (by
Maria Cândida Machado ), the four Omar chairs (by
Rejane Carvalho Leite ), the Pitu chaise longue with stool (by
Aristeu Pires ), the Duetto sideboard (by
Luia Mantelli ), the Carol dining table (by
Aristeu Pires ) and the ten GB chairs (by
Geraldo Barros ).

In the son's room, the
blue of the metal doors of the carpentry sets the young and relaxed atmosphere of the space, while in the daughter's room the palette features pastel tones to create a romantic and modern atmosphere.

The
original peroba do campo floor was restored and the same wood was used to finish the cabinetry. Highlights include the
huge bookcase – which serves as a support for the living room and extends to the dining room, acting as a sideboard –, the rack under the TV with lattice doors in muxarabi and the slatted ceiling at the entrance to the living room, which also hides the air conditioning units, combined with white wall panels. Linen curtains, twill, cotton, linen and leather upholstery and PET rugs complement the basic décor.
