Overlooking the
sea in São Conrado (RJ) and the iconic
Hotel Nacional – designed by Oscar Niemeyer –, this
260 m² apartment has gained a more contemporary feel and much more functionality after the renovation carried out by architects Izabela Lessa and Fernanda Zanetta, from the
LessaZanetta office and
CASACOR Rio team.
The owners – a young couple of lawyers who live with their two daughters aged 8 and 5 – love to cook, enjoy a good wine and, of course, love to have friends over to share these moments. That's why they wanted
a spacious and welcoming space .
"The apartment was completely renovated, with new finishes, frames and facilities to meet the needs of the growing family, who needed more comfort for their daily lives and also to receive friends," says
Izabela .
To meet the needs and desires of the residents, the architects completely redesigned the layout of the property, which had very compartmentalized spaces. In the social area,
the living room and balcony were integrated in a way that enhanced the beautiful sea view. The space also gained a large wine cellar with glass walls that separate the hall and dining room.
In the décor, light tones and wood prevail . A combination that brings the feeling of coziness that was essential for the family and enhances the designer furniture such as the Mole armchair, by
Sérgio Rodrigues , and the Senior chair, by
Jorge Zalszupin .
The private area also underwent major transformations. To create the master suite, one of the
bedrooms was incorporated, which allowed for the creation of a closet, a private office for the couple and also integrated the space with the balcony, bringing the view from the main room to the bedroom. In the
bathroom , the large counter gained a makeup area integrated into the bedroom.
"The entire renovation was designed to further enhance the view of the Hotel Nacional, designed by Niemeyer with landscaping by Burle Marx, and the sea of São Conrado. From
the kitchen to the bedroom, residents enjoy the comfort of the interior and the landscape outside", adds Fernanda Zanetta.
