On a secluded street in the heart of Rome, the Alvisi Kirimoto studio designed this home-studio on the top two floors of a building with stunning views of the Colosseum. The request of the owners, an Italian artist couple , was to change the general image of the apartment and improve its layout, prioritizing the view and maintaining the same number of rooms to accommodate the many friends who visit them. To make the organization of spaces more fluid, the architect introduced an entrance hall in which a semi-transparent wing of glass doors guarantees maximum permeability. Designed in wenge wood and with knob-shaped handles, modeled in the same material, the doors are decorated with a layer of linen placed inside the glass . A new naval-inspired staircase was created from a single block of wenge wood, illuminated by an elegant crystal handrail. A hallway parallel to the side balcony overlooking the Colosseum leads to the vanity and bathroom , where pale pink tones evoke the elegance of 1930s colors. The refined wallpapers define the different environments of the rooms. Each space is treated as if it were a scene, creating different perspectives. Bright brushstrokes and floral patterns envelop rooms that interact with the outdoors. (Serena Eller Vainiche/CASACOR)
A tailored approach, meticulous cutting and sewing, and careful choice of textures , colors and materials , guided the entire project, including the bathrooms.
