Let it Shine: the pieces that illuminate CASACOR RJ 2018
It's no secret to any architect that a good lighting project makes all the difference in a space. That's why the blog A Cor da Casa highlights the beautiful lighting design work of the spaces at CASACOR Rio de Janeiro 2018. Check it out below!

When displaying jewelry, there's nothing like good lighting to highlight the beauty of the precious items. With this in mind, Chico Viana and Guido Sant'Anna called on lighting designer Ines Benevelo to collaborate on the lighting project for the space. The goal was to create a light and cheerful atmosphere that was also functional. “The pendant lights and wall lights were designed by me and made of metal with a nickel finish. The lines of these pieces evoke the sophisticated restraint of Art Deco, a style eternally associated with the elegant unpretentiousness of Rio,” says Chico Viana. Architect and landscaper Carla Pimentel invited her longtime partner Adriana Vasconcellos, from A. de Arte in Belo Horizonte, to collaborate on her first space at the Rio show: Praça das Palmeiras . “The goal was to illuminate the outdoor space, highlighting the trees without overshadowing nature,” says Adriana. For this, she chose LED lighting to delicately illuminate the treetops. The highlight is the sculptures in the shape of spheres, which she placed on the grass. These are lighting pieces specifically for outdoor areas, which vary the light intensity and do not turn yellow.

Fábio Bouillet and Rodrigo Jorge have the play of light and shadow as one of the signatures of their projects. And this is no different in their project this year, Studio Premium . The duo worked on the theme ofA Casa Viva , treating their space as a living being. Therefore, the lighting of the space was designed as a whole and with the aim of being very welcoming. They tried to work a lot with indirect light, which brings a sense of drama to the space.

“We find low lighting more welcoming, we didn’t want lighting like a football stadium!” jokes Fábio. To achieve this, they used few spotlights and lots of table lamps and pendant lights. The highlights are the precious design pieces that can be found in the space, such as the Serena lamp by Patricia Urquiola, Herecleum by Mooi, Taccia by Flos and Gramp by Jader Almeida.

Monique Pampolha and Hannah Cabral also sought to create a cozy atmosphere through the lighting design. To achieve this, they opted for a more scenic and warm lighting, with bulbs with a more yellowish tone than conventional ones, so that the studio would become a welcoming environment for meeting friends. “We believe that good lighting makes a dinner last longer and makes people feel comfortable for long hours around the table,” says Hannah. With the theme ofA Casa Viva in mind, the duo chose not to put curtains on the bay window, in order to bring the garden landscape inside the house, making the most of the natural light.
