Xerophytic plants require little water and are highly resistant to strong winds and diseases. They are the stars of the Dragon Tree Garden at CASACOR São Paulo 2019 , designed by Luciano Zanardo, from the Zanardo Paisagismo office. In 100 m², the professional works on the concept of xeroscaping and the appreciation of tones and shapes of Brazilian species, with a contemporary and minimalist touch. The garden decorates the entire external area of the Cozy House environment, by Olegário de Sá. Among the xerophytic species are the Dracaena Draco, known as the dragon tree, which inspired the name of the space. They are the most numerous type in the project, with eight positioned on the side and along the length of the wooden deck. The dragon tree is common in the Cape Verde archipelago. Green, on the west coast of the African continent.

Erythrina Speciosa, also known as Mulungu, is the central feature of the marble water feature. “While dragon trees represent the strength and determination of human beings, Erythrina symbolizes the essence, uniqueness and respect of human beings for existing differences”, reflects Luciano.

Pampas Grass (Cortaderia Selloana) protects the facade of the house and is a representative of native plants. It highlights the beauty of Brazilian flora and reinforces the idea of affection and attachment to roots.

The space uses the concept of Xeropaisagismo (plants that require little water and are highly resistant to strong winds and diseases) and highlights Brazilian species. With 100m2, the garden reveals a mix of shapes and tones to stimulate the senses of visitors. Among the many species featured is the Dracaena Draco, popularly known as the “dragon tree”, which gives the space its name. The space also has a water mirror, wooden deck and special lighting to highlight the landscaping.

The Euphorbia Tirucalli, or Aveloz-Palito-de-Fogo, was planted in the garden of the entrance hall of the environment and keeps company with the dragon trees. The other xerophyte present is the Sword of Saint George (Sansevieria Trifasciata). These super resistant plants are a trend in homes in large cities. Its structure, which allows it to grow in hostile environments such as deserts, high altitudes and rocky soils, is ideal for open areas that receive a lot of sunlight.
